Three states carried out executions on the same day in the United States, marking a rare triple execution that highlighted ongoing national debates over capital punishment.

The lethal injections took place in Indiana, Florida, and Alabama, making it only the second time this year that three separate states have executed inmates on the same calendar day. The coordinated actions occurred as states navigate legal scrutiny surrounding capital punishment, which has seen renewed public attention following a botched execution in Tennessee in September.

Alabama executed 54-year-old Michael Taylor by lethal injection. Taylor was convicted for the 1991 fatal beating of an elderly couple, Ivan and Lucille Moore, during a home robbery in Gadsden. State officials proceeded with the execution after a judge ruled against defense objections regarding a last-minute change from nitrogen gas to lethal injection.

In Indiana, Jeffrey Weisheit, 50, was executed in the early morning hours at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. Weisheit was convicted of killing his girlfriend's two young children by setting fire to a home in the Evansville area in 2010. Governors in the respective states declined requests for clemency, citing the severity of the crimes and the numerous court reviews the cases had undergone.
