Albanese Heads to Caribbean for CHOGM Summit Amid Domestic Pressure on Cost of Living
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has travelled to Antigua and Labrador for the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The trip comes as Australian households prepare for an anticipated interest rate decision, drawing criticism from Coalition figures over the timing of his overseas travel.
In addition to plenary sessions, Mr Albanese is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and various Pacific and African leaders. The talks with Mr Burnham will touch on AI regulation, fuel security, and migration arrangements following a surge in British working holiday-makers. CHOGM events officially commence with a leaders' cricket match at the Viv Richards Stadium in St John's.
