Dozens Arrested at Protest Against Palestine Action Ban Outside US Embassy in London
Dozens of people were arrested on Saturday outside the US embassy in London as they demonstrated against the ban on Palestine Action, a group proscribed under the Terrorism Act in June 2025. The protest, which drew over 100 participants, took place in Nine Elms, south-west London, with many holding signs that read "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action."
The Metropolitan Police alleged that the demonstrators were "meeting to purposefully commit a crime," although the exact nature of the alleged offense was not specified. Protesters were seen being taken away to police vans, with some being carried by officers if they refused to walk. The demonstration was part of a wider show of support for Palestine Action, with a similar event also taking place outside the US consulate in Edinburgh.
The ban on Palestine Action was upheld by the Court of Appeal in June, with five judges ruling that it was a "justified and proportionate" interference on freedom of expression rights. This decision overturned a previous ruling by the High Court that the ban was unlawful.
