The condition of federal MP Helen Haines has improved from critical to serious but stable after spending more than four days receiving treatment at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
Hospital Confirms Condition Update
Ms Haines suffered critical injuries and lost both legs after being struck by a vehicle outside her electorate office on Monday. Police allege the incident was a deliberate attack.
Authorities have charged a 43-year-old man from Tarrawingee, Brendan Nugent, with multiple offenses in connection with the incident. Hospital officials confirmed the positive change in Ms Haines's medical status on Saturday morning.
The investigation by law enforcement remains ongoing as the member of parliament continues her recovery in hospital.
