Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is scheduled to deliver a speech in Scotland addressing the future of devolution, as national political figures debate the decentralization of authority across the UK.
The address coincides with ongoing discussions regarding regional governance. The prime minister is anticipated to outline initiatives aimed at shifting decision-making capabilities away from central institutions like Westminster and Holyrood, placing more authority directly into the hands of local regions and towns.
Ahead of the address, Scotland’s First Minister and SNP leader John Swinney stated that he would "of course" collaborate with the prime minister if the administration moves forward with plans to devolve additional powers to Scotland. Swinney noted that the prime minister is welcome in Scotland and expressed interest in hearing the specifics of the proposals.
