According to the research, more bee species are currently declining than increasing across every geographic region of Europe, with the sole exception of the Alpine region. Persistent reductions in bee and hoverfly species richness were specifically documented in the Atlantic and Continental regions, while trends in remaining areas presented a mix of stable, mixed, or positive outcomes.
The release of the study arrives as delegates gather for the Cop17 biodiversity summit, highlighting what experts describe as a critical window to address and reverse the ongoing loss of vital pollinators.
