Flávio Bolsonaro Arrives in U.S. Following Passport Cancellation

Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro has arrived in the United States, according to reports, shortly after Brazilian authorities cancelled his passports. The senator’s departure follows his failure to comply with a Supreme Court order requiring him to surrender his travel documents.

Legal Challenges and Visa Status

Bolsonaro, who recently lost the presidential election to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, is currently the subject of an investigation into allegations of corruption and money laundering. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing. While Brazilian police had been monitoring border crossings to track his movements, the U.S. State Department confirmed it would issue visas to the senator and his family, despite the ongoing legal scrutiny in his home country.

The senator’s legal team has stated they have no information regarding his current situation or travel plans. Prior to his departure, Bolsonaro had publicly claimed he had no intention of leaving Brazil. As of now, he has not formally conceded the election results.
