DUP Blocks Michelle O'Neill's Engagements Over Drumcree
Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill has been blocked from attending a joint engagement with Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly due to the DUP's stance on the Drumcree controversy. The move comes after unionist anger over Sinn Féin's involvement in protests that prevented an Orange Order march in Portadown from passing along the mainly nationalist Garvaghy Road.
The National Economic Council in Glasgow, where O'Neill and Little-Pengelly were invited to attend alongside other devolved leaders, has been affected by the DUP's decision. O'Neill has described the move as "reckless and irresponsible" and claimed that it means people in Northern Ireland "will not be represented".
