European Air Traffic Faces New Security Threats Following Week of Hoaxes

The latest security disruptions prompted immediate operational responses in multiple regions. In Hungary, defense minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi reported that the nation's fighter jets were scrambled three times on Friday morning to escort civilian aircraft through Hungarian airspace. One of the intercepted aircraft included a Wizz Air flight operating from Brussels to Sofia.

While the continuous stream of alerts has caused widespread concern and operational challenges for airlines and crews, authorities noted that the affected aircraft represent a small fraction of the tens of thousands of daily flights managed across European airspace.
