La Fundación Fisabio has begun the BronquiVal clinical trial, a large‑scale study aimed at determining whether the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine can reduce hospital admissions for respiratory and cardiac conditions among people aged 60 and older in the Valencian Community.
BronquiVal targets seniors who are not currently recommended to receive the RSV vaccine under existing vaccination guidelines. By monitoring hospitalisation rates in this population, the research seeks to provide evidence that could shape future vaccination policies for older adults.
With its extensive reach and real‑world setting, the study represents a significant effort to address the burden of RSV in an ageing population.
