France School Protests Escalate Into Violence and Closures

A rapidly expanding protest movement organized by high-school students has intensified across France, leading to hundreds of school closures and dozens of injuries among headteachers. The demonstrations, driven by student grievances over extended school hours, teacher shortages, and deteriorating facilities, have escalated into widespread urban violence.

According to official reports, approximately 900 separate demonstrations, blockades, and related incidents have materialized outside high schools throughout the country. The unrest has severely disrupted educational operations nationwide, forcing hundreds of educational institutions to shut their doors as tensions mounted outside school grounds.

Amid the escalating unrest and growing instability, the crisis has directly impacted school leadership personnel. Official figures confirm that 40 headteachers have sustained injuries during the widespread protests and blockades. In response to the worsening situation and the surge in urban violence surrounding the demonstrations, the Prime Minister has convened an emergency crisis cabinet meeting to address the mounting national crisis.
