The man who murdered 18-year-old student Henry Nowak has had his minimum prison term increased after judges ruled his original sentence was unduly lenient.
Vickrum Digwa was previously jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years following the fatal stabbing in Southampton in December 2025. During the legal proceedings, it emerged that Digwa had falsely claimed to be the victim of a racist attack, which resulted in the dying teenager being handcuffed while mortally wounded.
Digwa subsequently attempted to challenge his sentence at the Court of Appeal, arguing that the 21-year term was too long. However, appellate judges rejected his bid and instead increased his minimum prison term to 25 years following a referral over leniency.
