Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

Jerusalem’s Islamic Waqf Department reported that approximately 700 Israelis entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Tuesday under the protection of Israeli police. The group included former lawmaker Moshe Feiglin. The Waqf, which administers the holy site, described the entry as a storming of the compound.

The incident took place during the Jewish holiday season, which began earlier this month. Israeli visitors have entered the compound regularly since the start of the holidays. The current festival, Sukkot, runs from September 26 to October 2. It will be followed by Simchat Torah on October 3, which marks the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings.

Al Jazeera reported that raids at the compound have intensified during this period. The Waqf’s count of roughly 700 people on Tuesday reflects the heightened activity at the site, which is revered by Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary and by Jews as the Temple Mount.
