India Evacuates Tens of Thousands as Cyclone Arnab Nears Eastern Coast

India has ordered the evacuation of tens of thousands of people as Cyclone Arnab, a severe cyclonic storm, approaches the eastern coast of Andhra Pradesh state. The storm is expected to make landfall tomorrow, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures to ensure public safety.

According to reports, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain and squally winds reaching up to 70 kmph in several districts of Andhra Pradesh, including Anakapalle, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram. The IMD has also advised people to stay indoors and avoid traveling to these areas.

In preparation for the storm, schools have been shut, and trains have been canceled in the affected regions. The temple ghat road in Vijayawada has also been closed to devotees. The authorities are working to evacuate people from low-lying areas and relocate them to safer zones.

The cyclone is expected to bring significant rainfall and strong winds to the region, causing disruptions to daily life. The Indian government has deployed teams to assist in the evacuation efforts and provide relief to those affected by the storm.

As Cyclone Arnab approaches the eastern coast, residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities to ensure their safety.
