Indonesian law enforcement has named a fourth suspect in a widening wiretapping scandal targeting President Prabowo Subianto. Police announced during a late Thursday news conference that a senior law enforcement official, identified by local media as Slamet Uliandi (SU), is suspected of authorizing the interception of the president's communications and the subsequent deletion of records.
The high-level investigation highlights a growing political rift between President Prabowo and his predecessor, Widodo, whose son, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, now faces potential legislative scrutiny regarding his eligibility. While thousands of troops were deployed across Jakarta following the revelations, the capital remained calm through Thursday and Friday as police continue to examine the motives behind the wiretapping.
