SpaceX Cargo Mission Scheduled for Tuesday Morning Launch

NASA and SpaceX have scheduled a Tuesday morning launch for a cargo mission delivering more than 6,300 pounds of supplies, equipment, and scientific experiments to the International Space Station. The upcoming flight marks the SpaceX CRS-35 mission.

If the mission cannot lift off on Tuesday, a backup launch opportunity is available at 6:08 a.m. Any potential visual displays resulting from the launch will rely on lighting, weather conditions, and the specific trajectory of the vehicle.

Scientific Research Heading to Orbit

The Dragon spacecraft will transport a variety of investigations designed to utilize the microgravity environment of the space station. Among the payloads, researchers are examining materials intended to provide enhanced durability, strength, and optical characteristics. Additionally, the MINDS experiment will utilize brain organoids to investigate inflammation linked to Alzheimer's disease.

Once the spacecraft reaches the orbital laboratory, NASA astronaut Anil Menon and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk will oversee its arrival. The Dragon capsule is planned to stay docked at the space station for approximately one month before returning cargo back to Earth via a splashdown.
