Nine Killed in Florida Private Jet Crash

A Learjet 60 business aircraft crashed into a residential area in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of all nine people on board. The incident occurred at approximately 12:50 EST on Military Trail, a busy six-lane road located about nine miles from the Mar-a-Lago resort.

Emergency Descent and Impact

Dashcam footage captured the aircraft nosediving vertically into the ground, creating a large crater and a massive fireball. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis confirmed that while the crash caused significant damage to local infrastructure, including water lines, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities among people on the ground. Approximately 600 residents from a nearby trailer park were evacuated as a precaution.

Investigation Underway

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy characterized the event as a "horrific tragedy." The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently assisting the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in an investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials have indicated that the affected roadway will remain closed for at least 30 days to facilitate repairs and the ongoing investigation.
