Russell Brand Accusers 'Haunted' by Alleged Crimes, Court Hears

Prosecutor Reil Karmy-Jones KC told jurors at London's Southwark Crown Court on Friday that the women accusing Russell Brand of rape and sexual assault have been "haunted" for years by the alleged incidents.

The six women, who do not know each other, have been forced to "relive what has happened to them" due to the trial, despite having moved on with their lives. Karmy-Jones KC emphasized that none of the women involved have sought publicity or a benefit from coming forward, and that their testimonies are a result of realizing they are not alone and having the courage to tell the truth.

The prosecutor dismissed the idea that a documentary had caused the women to "re-invent" their experiences, stating that "there is no magic force in this documentary." Instead, she said that the women have bravely come forward to share their truth, which has been a source of pain and trauma for them.

Brand, 51, denies the charges of rape, sexual assault, and attempted indecent assault, and his wife Laura has testified in his defense, describing him as a "kind and wonderful father." However, the prosecutor noted that Laura was not with Brand during many of the alleged incidents and that their contact was sparse at the time.

The trial continues, with the jury set to hear final arguments.
