A shooting in the Yvelines district west of Paris has left one person dead and at least four others injured, with a suspect arrested. French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu confirmed the incident on Friday.

According to Ali Rabeh, the mayor of Trappes, a man fired shots from his car, targeting people seemingly at random. A 12-year-old girl was among those injured, and the shooter is believed to reside in a nearby town. The motives behind the shooting are currently unknown.

Security forces have been fully mobilized, with the national anti-terrorism prosecutor's office monitoring the situation. The prefecture declined to comment, while representatives for the prosecutor's office did not immediately respond to a request for information.
