Tiger Attack Medical Records in Potential Breach, Trust Says
A potential breach of medical records has been identified at Yorkshire Ambulance Trust following the death of a man mauled by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
The incident occurred on Saturday when William Chapman was killed after entering the tiger's enclosure at the park near Doncaster. An inquest into his death heard that Chapman died as a result of "multiple traumatic injuries and animal interaction".
Yorkshire Ambulance Service has launched an investigation into two possible incidents of staff accessing or attempting to access Chapman's medical information without a legitimate reason. The trust has reported the matter to the Information Commissioner's Office and will continue to inform Chapman's family of the investigation's progress.
The trust takes the confidentiality and security of patient information extremely seriously and has robust systems in place to protect information. The investigation aims to establish the full circumstances surrounding the potential breaches and the actions of the individuals involved.
