Valentina Mér - Paperheart (Lyric video)

Valentina Mér’s first single is marked by great fragility: “Paperheart”, made of paper, almost transparent, too gentle for this world, one may think. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, the song of this singer/songwriter from Offenburg, Germany, reveals an immense strength, steadily intensifying just like the stormy sea in her lyrics. “You are the salty air I will keep on breathing / I know you so well / You are the cliffs that protect me from the high waves / Like a wall around my paperheart“, she sings, referring to her personal stronghold. Her poetry is dense and gloomy yet equally light-footed and catchy. At times it’s as if you are standing beside her, facing that raging storm, tasting the salt on your lips, wiping that ocean spray off your face. “Melancholy and lightness to me go hand in hand,” says Valentina. “That is what I wanted to express in my song. The way something can spread its wings and fly, yet be vulnerable and need protection at the same time.” Paperheart is the first single from Valentina’s upcoming debutalbum ‚you’ which will be released in march 2017 and can be pre-orderd now:
