A tragic private jet crash in Palm Beach County, Florida, has claimed the lives of all nine people on board, including 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras. The Learjet 60 plummeted into a residential area on Sunday afternoon while bound for the Bahamas, leaving a smoldering crater and wreckage in the street.

Who Was on Board and What Happened

The victims included a Texas family of four—Adam Robinson, Helen Sharp, and their young children Emma and Charlie—along with a nanny and two family friends. The flight's experienced pilot was Jeff Gregory, while Ms. Filgueiras served as the co-pilot. According to her mother, Ms. Filgueiras obtained her pilot's license at age 17 and had logged over 1,300 hours of flight time working for a Fort Lauderdale-based charter firm.

Archived communications reveal that before the crash, Ms. Filgueiras radioed air traffic controllers in Miami to report moderate turbulence and manageable ice, asking to climb to 37,000 feet. Shortly afterward, she issued a desperate mayday call, screaming that the aircraft was descending rapidly at 20,000 feet per minute and declaring they were going to crash.

Investigation Underway

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the disaster. Officials stated that recovering major wreckage from the impact crater on the roadway presents a significant challenge, and investigators are still working to determine whether a cockpit voice recorder was on board. Representatives from Upper Jets, the private charter firm that employed Ms. Filgueiras, were meeting with federal authorities.
