Abdul El-Sayed Reports Record Fundraising After Haley Stevens Shifts Endorsement in Michigan Senate Race

Democratic US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed brought in $2.4m in a single day on Sunday following a high-profile political defection in Michigan.

The fundraising surge arrived after Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens withdrew her endorsement of El-Sayed, choosing instead to back Trump-backed Republican candidate Mike Rogers. The contested Michigan seat is considered critical as Democrats battle to retain control of the US Senate during the midterm elections.

Meanwhile, the final pre-election polling from the New York Times and Siena College shows El-Sayed leading Rogers by 11 percentage points, placing him comfortably outside the survey's margin of error. However, the poll was conducted prior to Stevens' endorsement shift toward the Republican contender.
