Greg Lynn, the man accused of murdering retiree Carol Clay in Victoria's High Country in 2020, has testified in the Victorian Supreme Court that he has faced threats, insults, and a faeces-throwing incident while held in custody. The 60-year-old former pilot entered the witness box to support his application for bail ahead of a scheduled trial in mid-2027.
Mr Lynn’s legal team argued for his release, citing exceptional circumstances that include time spent on remand, strict solitary confinement conditions, and family support to live with his eldest son, Geordie Lynn. However, Crown prosecutor Mark Gibson KC opposed the application, asserting that exceptional circumstances do not exist and noting that prison staff reported no official evidence of a physical attack during the July incident.
Chief Justice Richard Niall has reserved his decision and is expected to rule on the bail application in the near future.
