An unseasonal cold blast brought unexpected springtime snow to alpine regions across south-eastern Australia, causing temperatures to plummet.
Resorts including Thredbo, Perisher, and Mount Hotham recorded snowfall as the wintry weather system swept through New South Wales and Victoria. Further south, snow also blanketed kunanyi/Mount Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania.
The sudden drop in temperature marks a wintry interruption to the spring season for the region's high country.
