Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke over the weekend, according to his office.

Murphy, 53, experienced numbness in his arm on Saturday while attending his son's hockey game. He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where medical evaluations confirmed he had suffered a stroke.

Allison Herwitt, Murphy's chief of staff, stated that the senator is responding well to medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
