OTTAWA — Canada’s foreign affairs minister stated on Friday that a decision clearing the path for Russia to rejoin international ice hockey competition is "very unwelcome," as the country evaluates its options regarding a future tournament hosted in Alberta.

Federal officials expressed strong displeasure with the ruling on Friday, noting that the government is actively exploring its options in response to the international sports body's path toward reintegrating Russian teams.
