Erin Patterson, the woman convicted of murdering three of her in-laws with a meal of death cap mushroom-laced beef wellington, will spend the rest of her life in prison. On Friday, Victoria’s Court of Appeal rejected Patterson’s bid to overturn her convictions and simultaneously granted a prosecution appeal to increase her sentence.
A Final Ruling on a Triple-Murder Case
The court’s decision ensures that Patterson will remain incarcerated for the remainder of her life with no possibility of parole. She was not present in the courtroom when the ruling was delivered.
Patterson now has a 28-day window to determine if she will attempt to escalate her case to the High Court of Australia. For now, the ruling stands as a definitive conclusion to the appeals process in the Victorian court system.
