Flights Disrupted After Illegal Drone Activity Near Airport

Operations at Jersey Airport faced disruption for a second consecutive night following unauthorized drone activity near the airfield. The recurring security incidents forced the cancellation of multiple inbound flights, including services connecting the island with London Heathrow, London Southampton, and London Gatwick.

The disruption follows an initial incident on Friday evening, when three arriving flights were forced to divert back to the United Kingdom after drones entered the airport's restricted airspace. Authorities confirmed that searches across the western part of the island involving local police and partner agencies did not immediately locate any operators, and officials noted the activity is not believed to be linked to terrorism.

States of Jersey Police have urged islanders to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior, emphasizing that operating drones near active airspace creates severe safety risks for flight crews and passengers. Investigators are actively seeking witness accounts, CCTV, and dashcam footage from specific areas in the west of the island as inquiries continue.
