As winter approaches, Palestinians in Gaza are improvising defenses against coastal flooding by utilizing damaged cooking pots as makeshift seawalls.
With ongoing conflict severely limiting access to standard construction materials and heavy infrastructure resources, residents have resorted to recycling discarded household items. These repurposed metal pots are being arranged along vulnerable shorelines to help deflect rising tides and protect coastal areas from winter storm damage.
The makeshift barriers highlight the daily resourcefulness of communities in Gaza as they face severe supply shortages ahead of harsh seasonal weather.
