Missile Strikes Hit Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih Amid Diplomatic Proposals
Russian missile strikes targeted the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and the city of Kryvyi Rih, resulting in multiple casualties. According to local reports, an early morning attack on Kyiv left one person dead and several others injured, following overnight bombardments. A separate strike on Kryvyi Rih caused two additional fatalities.
The latest military escalations coincided with diplomatic proposals from Moscow. The Kremlin has suggested holding a summit next month involving the United States and China to negotiate an end to the conflict. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged discussions regarding a potential meeting involving Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, noting that President Donald Trump ultimately wants the war to conclude.
International and domestic reactions to the proposed trilateral summit have been sharply divided. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha criticized the idea on social media, asserting that such a meeting would only serve to embolden Putin. Meanwhile, European Commission officials reiterated that any lasting resolution must respect Ukraine's territorial integrity, maintaining that Putin retains the ability to halt the conflict immediately if he chooses.
