WASHINGTON — According to reports published by The Washington Post and other outlets, attackers executed a massive $6.3 billion cryptocurrency heist from Binance by leveraging malware and a fraudulent job interview process.

The Scheme: Fake Interviews and Malware

Investigators and Binance co-CEO Richard Teng revealed that the threat actors ensnared victims using bogus employment opportunities. During these fake job interviews, the attackers deployed malicious software tools, including AI-driven methods, to compromise systems and facilitate the multi-billion dollar theft.
