Flydubai Pilot Describes Cockpit Attack by Co-Pilot

Captain Smit Machchhar, who sustained a stabbing injury during an attack inside the cockpit of a Flydubai flight, expressed his resolve by stating that he was not going to let others die. Following the ordeal, Captain Machchhar spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the event.

The violent incident between the flight deck crew sparked the sudden diversion of an Israel-bound aircraft. According to Israeli authorities, the co-pilot attempted to hijack the Tel Aviv-bound flight and tried to crash the plane. Passengers on board successfully intervened, overcoming the pilot who attempted to cause the crash and ensuring that all passengers remained safe.

The aircraft was diverted to Saudi Arabia as a result of the cockpit altercation. In the aftermath of the emergency landing, Saudi Arabia reportedly turned down a request from Israel allowing its planes to enter and pick up the stranded Flydubai passengers.
