Lewis Hamilton Claims Pole Position at Mexico City Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has secured pole position for the Mexico City Grand Prix, marking his first pole for Ferrari and his first top-qualifying spot in more than a year. Hamilton and his teammate George Russell headed out early for their initial runs, leaving their competitors to try and beat their benchmarks, which ultimately went unmatched. Russell expressed satisfaction with halting a recent streak of difficult form.

Prior to qualifying, McLaren's Lando Norris set the pace in final practice by edging out Kimi Antonelli by 0.01 seconds, while Charles Leclerc followed in third. During the earlier practice session, Leclerc had posted a leading time of 1:18.152 on medium compound tires, maintaining a narrow advantage over Hamilton.

Qualifying Results and Contender Standings

In the qualifying sessions, Norris reflected on his performance after failing to improve on his final lap, noting he was simply not quick enough and secured sixth place on the grid. Antonelli enters the weekend with the mathematical opportunity to secure the world championship, with Hamilton and Russell remaining as the two drivers who can prevent him from sealing the title.
