Thinktank Analysis Highlights Regional Disparities
According to findings from the Centre for Cities—an independent thinktank focused on improving UK economies—the disparity was uncovered using 2021 census data to map NEET rates across 41 cities and towns in England. In response to these regional challenges, local initiatives are being launched in areas such as Telford to address the youth employment crisis and expand training opportunities.
The research underscores a geographic shift in where youth unemployment and disengagement are most acute, pointing lawmakers and local leaders toward smaller municipalities that may require targeted economic support and educational resources.
