India's auto sector delivered mixed results in the second quarter, with Maruti Suzuki's profit falling sharply even as revenue rose, while Bajaj Auto posted a stronger profit increase.

Maruti Suzuki Profit Tanks 27%

Maruti Suzuki reported a 27% drop in net profit to Rs 2,415 crore in Q2, despite an increase in total revenue. The decline in profitability was driven by higher input costs and margin pressures, even as the company managed to grow its top line.

Bajaj Auto Profit Rises 35%

In contrast, Bajaj Auto saw its profit rise 35% year-on-year, reflecting stronger margins and improved operational performance across its two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments.

The divergent outcomes highlight the challenges facing India's largest car maker amid rising costs, while two-wheelers continue to benefit from strong domestic demand.
