US Senator Chris Murphy Expected to Make Full Recovery After Stroke

US Senator Chris Murphy is hospitalized and expected to make a full recovery after suffering a stroke over the weekend, according to his congressional office.

The 53-year-old Connecticut Democrat was attending his son's hockey game on Saturday when he began experiencing numbness in his arm. He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where medical evaluations confirmed he had experienced a stroke.

In a statement shared with media outlets, Murphy's team noted that the senator is awake, alert, and responding well to treatment. "The doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery," his office said.

Murphy, who has served in the US Senate since 2013, was actively campaigning across the country ahead of the midterm elections to support fellow Democrats. Following his hospitalization, fellow lawmakers—including Senator John Fetterman, who previously survived a stroke—shared public messages wishing Murphy and his family a speedy recovery.
