Travel networks faced significant disruption and outdoor events were forced to cancel as Storm Boelo brought severe wind and heavy rain to parts of the United Kingdom. The fresh deluge of wet weather followed closely behind Storm Austen, which had already battered numerous regions with strong winds on Friday.
Meteorological authorities issued amber weather warnings ahead of the storm's peak. According to the Met Office, winds from Storm Boelo intensified from Saturday evening, placing regions including Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, and the far north of England under alert for gusts ranging between 60mph and 70mph, with exposed coastal areas potentially experiencing winds reaching up to 80mph.
