A sprawling, multi-state storm system is currently impacting Australia’s east, bringing a high risk of severe weather to southern Queensland, western New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and eastern Victoria. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has issued warnings for damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding as the system tracks across the region.
Ongoing Weather Risks
The weather event, described as unusually large, has already moved through western New South Wales. In southern Queensland, residents are facing heightened flood risks, with eight active flood warnings in place following several days of heavy rainfall. Meteorologists expect the volatile conditions to persist through Sunday afternoon, with additional storm activity and flood threats anticipated to continue into Monday.
Authorities are urging residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant, as the storms carry the potential for localized power outages and significant travel disruptions. Emergency services remain on standby as the system continues its path across the eastern states.
