A Texas resident who purchased a box of items at an estate sale made a startling discovery when they found multiple Second World War-era grenades inside.
The find triggered a neighborhood lockdown and a response from the Austin police department’s bomb squad. According to a social media post by the Austin police association, the explosives were "live and active."
Authorities safely removed and disarmed the historic munitions, resolving the emergency without reported injuries.
