Kyiv residents are facing escalating fear and destruction as Russia intensifies its attacks on the Ukrainian capital. Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that the population can no longer maintain the illusion of peacetime, following strikes that have hit a school, a hospital, and a bridge.

The intensifying assault has severely disrupted daily life across the city. Valeriya Tkachenko described the constant terror of the situation while dropping her son off at a central Kyiv school when an air raid alert sounded. After emerging from a shelter and running late for work, she expressed that the ongoing danger is unsustainable and leaves her terrified throughout the day for her son's safety.

Transportation and infrastructure have also been heavily impacted. Artem Marchenko, an IT professional, had to abandon his car on Friday morning and walk for 20 minutes across the Pivdennyi Bridge while commuting.

As ongoing strikes target the city and efforts continue to freeze Kyiv out, an international diplomat noted that conditions within the capital are declining rapidly.
