Family members have identified 20-year-old Nathalia Filgueiras as one of the nine victims killed in a private jet crash in Palm Beach County, Florida. The Learjet 60 went down on Sunday during a heavy thunderstorm while en route from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas to the Bahamas.
The aircraft crashed in a neighbourhood near Cresthaven, roughly nine miles from the Mar-a-Lago resort. According to federal officials and air traffic control recordings, the flight encountered severe weather, with the crew reporting moderate turbulence, icing, and rapidly losing altitude before communications ceased.
The impact created a large crater on a multi-lane road and damaged local infrastructure, including water lines, prompting the evacuation of about 600 nearby residents. While the crash caused widespread debris and property damage, transportation officials confirmed that no injuries were reported on the ground. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
