Authorities in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha have issued emergency alerts as Cyclone ‘Arnab’ tracks toward the eastern coastline. Disaster management teams are currently mobilizing to mitigate potential damage, with local administrations taking proactive measures to secure vulnerable regions.
Precautionary Measures and Regional Impact
In response to the approaching storm, officials in Odisha’s Ganjam district have ordered the closure of all beaches to ensure public safety. Fishermen operating out of Andhra Pradesh and the Paradeep port have been directed to return to shore and seek shelter immediately. The weather system is expected to bring significant atmospheric instability, with forecasts indicating moderate to heavy rainfall extending into parts of West Bengal, including the Kolkata region.
While coastal states prepare for the cyclone's landfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has noted that the weather pattern remains distinct from conditions in other parts of the country, with Karnataka expected to remain in a dry spell through November 1.
Emergency response units remain on standby as they monitor the cyclone's trajectory and intensity to provide further updates to residents in the path of the storm.
