Three brothers, including two prominent New York real estate moguls, were sentenced to 30 years in prison each on Tuesday for drugging and raping dozens of women over the course of several years. Tal Alexander, 40, and his twin brothers, Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, were convicted in March following a trial that detailed a long-standing pattern of abuse.
A Pattern of Predatory Behavior
During the five-week trial, prosecutors presented evidence that the brothers leveraged their wealth and social status to lure women—some of whom were minors at the time—to luxury homes and exclusive destinations like Aspen and the Bahamas. Victims testified that the men would drug their drinks before physically restraining and sexually assaulting them, ignoring explicit pleas to stop.
Judge Valerie Caproni condemned the defendants' actions during the sentencing hearing in New York, labeling their conduct "monstrous" and noting the devastating, long-term psychological trauma inflicted upon the victims. Twelve women provided impact statements, describing how the assaults shattered their sense of safety and trust. Despite the testimony, the brothers maintained their innocence, with Tal Alexander characterizing their behavior as a "work-hard, play-hard mentality" that had merely "hurt people's feelings."
Legal Outcome
Defense attorneys had requested 15-year sentences, citing the brothers' roles as fathers. However, Judge Caproni rejected these pleas, questioning how the men could be rehabilitated when they refused to acknowledge their crimes. In addition to the 30-year sentence, the judge imposed a concurrent 20-year sentence for additional charges.
