Bob Dylan Meets Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican During Italy Tour

Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan met with Pope Leo XIV in a private audience at the Vatican on Wednesday. The encounter took place during a break in Dylan's current concert tour in Italy, falling between his Monday performance in Milan and an upcoming show in Rome.

During the brief meeting, Pope Leo presented Dylan with a rosary, while the Nobel Prize-winning musician gifted the pontiff a copy of his autobiography, “Chronicles: Volume One.” Vatican photographs from the visit captured Dylan wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled over his head, paired with a loose tie.

Dylan, who was accompanied by Vatican officials the Rev. Antonio Spadaro and Andrea Monda, previously performed before Pope John Paul II during a 1997 religious congress in Bologna, Italy.
