NEW DELHI — Cyclone Murasu has intensified over the Bay of Bengal into a "Severe Cyclonic Storm," prompting heightened disaster preparedness, weather alerts, and precautionary closures across parts of India.
Regional impacts are spreading wider as the system moves. An orange alert has been issued for six districts in Telangana, while a yellow alert covers five additional districts. Precautionary measures also include holiday announcements for schools and colleges across several affected districts in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, forecasters indicate that the severe weather system brings rain on the cards for Kolkata as the storm progresses over the Bay of Bengal.
