ISLAMABAD — Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate diplomatic discussions on Wednesday with his Saudi counterpart and the Iranian ambassador in Islamabad, emphasizing dialogue and stability amid broader geopolitical shifts.
According to Pakistan's Foreign Office, Dar spoke by telephone with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to review regional and international developments. Both leaders underlined the necessity of ongoing diplomatic engagement to secure regional peace, agreeing to maintain regular consultations.
In a separate in-person meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar met with Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam. The talks focused on bilateral ties and regional security, with Dar reaffirming Islamabad's commitment to strengthening relations with Tehran and reiterating that diplomacy remains vital for regional stability.
The high-level engagements coincided with reactions from Iranian leadership to the United States midterm elections, which reshaped the balance of power in Washington as Democrats secured majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Iranian officials responded to the electoral outcome by cautioning Washington against renewed military action, while regional capitals continued monitoring the shifting political landscape.
