Spain is bracing for significant weather instability this weekend as the DANA (isolated depression at high levels) named Adam moves across the country. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued widespread alerts, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds affecting multiple regions.
Regional Impact and Alerts
Orange-level warnings are currently in effect for Andalusia, Murcia, and the Balearic Islands. Meanwhile, Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Ceuta, and Melilla remain under yellow alerts. Throughout the day, residents in Andalusia, Murcia, Ceuta, and Melilla should prepare for intense or very heavy thunderstorms, while the Pitiusas Islands and northern Alicante face the highest risk of torrential downpours.
Temperature Drop and Wind
In addition to the precipitation, the country will experience a notable drop in temperatures. Maximum temperatures in the eastern half of the peninsula are expected to fall by more than 6 degrees, while minimum temperatures will decrease in the central mountain ranges. Strong wind gusts are also expected, particularly along the Valencian coast, as the cold air mass continues to influence weather patterns across the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.
