New Zealand Posts Record-Breaking 259/7 Against India in 4th T20I
Auckland, October 30: Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell led a batting onslaught as New Zealand posted a record-breaking 259/7 against India in the fourth T20I at Eden Park on Friday. Phillips, who has been the standout batter of the series, smashed his third T20I century, scoring 107 off 49 balls, while Bracewell contributed 65 off 25 balls to help the hosts surpass their previous highest T20I total of 254/5 against Scotland four years ago.
The Indian bowlers struggled to contain the Kiwi batsmen, who were in a different touch today. Phillips was in a different zone, bringing up his third T20I century off 46 balls. He was eventually dismissed in the final over, miscuing a lofted drive to Abhishek at deep extra covers. However, the damage was already done, and New Zealand had set a record total against India, surpassing England's 257/3 against India earlier this year.
The Indian bowlers, including Mayank Yadav and Arshdeep Singh, were met with a tough treatment, and the Kiwis' total of 259/7 is the highest by any team against India in the format. Nathan Smith finished with a four on the final ball, sealing the record-breaking total for New Zealand.
The match is currently live, with India batting at 68/4 in 7.1 overs, with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Axar Patel at the crease. The visitors will look to maintain their dominance in the series, while the hosts will be desperate to avoid another defeat.
