In Friday’s first practice session at the Sepang International Circuit, Marc Marquez took the top spot while Jorge Martin, who had been declared fit to race after a wrist fracture, was forced to pull out of the session.
The incident at Phillip Island, where Martin’s wrist was fractured in a battle with Marquez, had already ruled him out of Sunday’s race. The cancellation of the race due to a lack of visibility for the medical helicopter meant Martin lost the chance to defend his lead, but the injury prevented any further points loss.
With Marquez now holding the championship lead and Martin sidelined, the 2026 Malaysian MotoGP weekend is set to be a pivotal one for the title race.
